Nicaragua

We help prepare Nicaragua's health workers to provide the care their communities need most, from HIV services to emergency obstretric care.

Selected Achievements

Trained university students from medical, nursing, social work, and other health-related disciplines in Nicaragua via a three-day workshop to prepare them as voluntary HIV counseling and testing peer counselors.
Supported income-generating activities for people living with HIV in Nicaragua and provided training on general administration, management, and handicraft production and sales to the Centro de Información y Servicios de Asesoría en Salud project in Leon.
Provided refresher training for faculty from health-related schools in Nicaragua, including on HIV, tuberculosis coinfection, universal infection-prevention practices, gender issues, and reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.
